Renties Ypres Rally Belgium Live Stream 13 – 15 August 2021. After having officially announced last week that Renties Ypres Rally Belgium would count towards the FIA World Rally Championship this year, the date of the event is now also known. Renties Ypres Rally Belgium will be held from 13 to 15 August 2021.
Putting the puzzle together will have required consultations with the various parties involved and with the organisers of other motorsport events planned for that date, but the decision has been made: Renties Ypres Rally Belgium will start on Friday 13 August and the winner of the very first Belgian round of the FIA World Rally Championship will be honoured on the finishing podium on Sunday 15 August.
The City of Ypres is also very proud to host the FIA World Rally Championship. “When we were forced to cancel the 2020 edition last October due to the health crisis, it was a hard blow. We are very happy and proud to have the opportunity to host the FIA World Rally Championship this year.
It wasn’t easy to determine a suitable date, but after consultation with all parties involved, we managed to agree on the weekend of 13 to 15 August, which is a huge boost for tourism, as it will put Ypres in the international spotlight.
Last year, there was a huge influx of overnight reservations and this year it will undoubtedly be even stronger with this date in the middle of the summer”, says Diego Desmadryl, Alderman for Economy, SMEs, Tourism and Events of the city of Ypres.
“For us, as an organisation, this is an ideal date, because for many people it is an extended weekend and we fall in the middle of the school holidays. Moreover, this date is also ideal for the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, where two weeks later the Formula 1 GP is on the programme”, explains Jan Huyghe on behalf of the organising Superstage Club.
The Mayor, Emmily Talpe, is also delighted: “Now that the vaccination campaign has started, we have high hopes for a better summer. Like many others, I am already looking forward to another rally weekend in our city. This accession to world level, a first in our country, is the result of a close collaboration between the organisation and the city of Ypres, which has lasted for more than 50 years. We are very honoured to be a host city. It will also be an excellent promotion for Ypres, both at home and abroad”.
A good tip: don’t wait too long to plan your stay in Ypres!
